Pleasing bachelorette palates one wine sip at a time in Maryland

There is Napa. There is France (ooo la la!). Let’s not forget about being under the Tuscon sun in Italy. What do these places all have in common? They are all renowned places to taste some of the best wines in the world. However, if you live far away from these wine destinations, it can cost a pretty penny to jet off to a wine region. What’s an MOH to do if a bride wants to channel Napa for an oenophile-inspired bash?

Boordy Vineyards Maryland

Although the aforementioned regions are home to some of the most renowned wineries in the world, all hope is not lost. Maryland has an abundance of wineries, specializing in various varietals of vino. Bachelorette parties from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, and West Virginia can head to the Free State to enjoy wine tours and tastings without having to jet off to Bordeaux. For bachelorette groups looking to stay and sip in Maryland, there are many wine trails and “regions” to choose from.

For those who want to do all the planning, self-guided wine trails such as, Chesapeake Wine Trail, Antietam Highlands Trail and Piedmont Wine Trail help provide some direction. Whether you stay at one or visit a few, the wine trails are a great way to map out a wine tasting itinerary. Near many of the wine trails, there are some lovely bed and breakfasts which we recommend for bachelorette accommodations. Hotels are wonderful too, we just find that many of the bachelorette parties we help plan have a more close-knit, cozy experience at bed and breakfasts. Try Elk Forge Bed and Breakfast, a gorgeous property near several Maryland and Pennsylvania wineries (it has a spa too). Don’t forget to hire a limo or private car to provide safe transportation throughout your tour.

For those groups looking to sit back, relax and have the planning taken care of, we offer a bachelorette wine tour and a chocolate and wine tour with our partners at Vino 301, both of which are quite popular throughout the year. Per person prices start at $80, and include wine tastings and tours of up to three Maryland wineries. As long as the group has 6+ guests, the bride is free!

Some of our favorite Maryland wineries for bachelorette tours and tastings:

  • Linganore Winecellars
  • Black Ankle Vineyards
  • Elk Run Vineyards & Winery
  • Boordy Vineyards
